Dowling Walsh Gallery, 365 Main St., is mounting two new shows in September and will celebrate both with a First Friday Art Walk reception Sept. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Cig Harvey’s "Gardening at Night" offers an exhibition of photographs, animations, embroidery and neon signs about light and dark, the cyclical notations of time passing and the magic of moonlight. Alexandra Tyng’s “The Unseen Aspect” features figurative paintings that explore the legacy of the artist’s family with symbolism and fluid time, appearing at once representational and mythological.
Both shows may be previewed at dowlingwalsh.com and will run through Sept. 30. Dowling Walsh, located directly across from the Farnsworth Art Museum, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays; and Sundays and Mondays by appointment.
