Walk for Hope Oct. 5

ROCKLAND — The first Walk for Hope 5K will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, at 9 a.m. in downtown Rockland. The event, which benefits New Hope for Women, will be held rain or shine.

Join New Hope for Women as we “walk for Hope” through the streets of Rockland, raising hope and money to benefit all persons affected by domestic violence, dating violence and stalking in Knox, Waldo, Lincoln and Sagadahoc counties.

Registration starts at 8 a.m., walk at 9 a.m., finish line festivities will conclude by 2 p.m.

Course offered at St. John's

THOMASTON — Applications are now being accepted for this year's course in Education for Ministry at St. John's Church in Thomaston.

Education for Ministry is a four-year course that examines the Bible, theology, church history, one's own personal journey of faith and helps encourage the participants to discover their own course, reflect on their own path, and be better informed about matters of faith. This course is open to all people, the class meets once a week, usually on Sunday afternoons. It is a national course with certification available, as well as scholarships.
