A home canning and food preservation workshop will be held at Merryspring Nature Center on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Extension Educator Nadine Reimer will lead this program for anyone interested in learning the proper methods of home canning, preserving, and freezing the fall harvest. Proper water bath and pressure canning methods will be demonstrated for both high acid foods like tomatoes and low-acid produce such as green beans. Guests will receive literature and instructions as well as contacts for resources after the presentation.
Admission to this program is $10 for Merryspring members, $15 for non-members. Space is limited to six participants, so pre-registration is required. To sign up please contact Merryspring at 236-2239 or info@merryspring.org.
This program is part of the Weekend Workshop series at Merryspring, sponsored by Camden Real-Estate.
