On Thursday, Aug. 22, the program at the Camden Garden Club’s August meeting will be an illustrated talk by Barbara Freeman of Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens.

Through images of the garden’s past and its present, Freeman will give an insider’s look at how the 250-acre garden in Boothbay grows.

Freeman is a writer and photographer who moved to Maine from Pennsylvania in 1991. She was an early member of Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and joined the staff more than a decade ago as communications manager. She is a Maine Master Gardner and member of the Garden Writers Association.

Freeman has witnessed the gardens’ remarkable progress, and her goal is to let others know both the beauty and the importance of Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, and to encourage everyone to visit.

The program will start at 9:30 a.m. at the Congregational Church on Elm Street (Route 1) in Camden. The public is cordially invited. Come early for refreshments at 9 a.m.
