Tending the perennial garden talk continues in mid-August

Wendy Andresen will host a mid-August session of her Tending the Perennial Garden series at Merryspring Nature Center on Thursday, Aug. 22, at noon.

Now that it is Mid-August, many late-blooming perennial plants are showing their true colors, while some earlier-blooming plants like columbine and poppy are going to seed.

Andresen's talk will demonstrate how to make the most of the abundant late-summer season by continuing to display methods of pinching, pruning, deadheading, and supporting plants. As always Tracy DiSabato-Aust's seminal book "The Well Tended Perennial Garden" will serve as a reference for the material, copies of which, among other garden tools and merchandise will be for sale after the presentation.

This is an outdoor presentation. Guests should meet outside at the Hexagon gazebo at noon. Participants are reminded to wear weather appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes to this event.

The cost for this event is free for Merryspring members, with a $5 fee for non-members.
