The Velvet Lounge series of Rock City Cafe, 316 Main St., will present Kriika Friday, Aug. 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. There is no cover charge, but tipping the musicians is highly encouraged.

Kriika is Justin Houchin on guitar and Mathias MacIntire on violin, performing classical, jazz popular and original compositions. MacIntire is a violinist, improviser and composer fluent in many different contexts and styles. Originally from Toronto, he has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and China with many world-renowned soloists and orchestras. He also performed with the Magik*Magik Orchestra on the soundtrack for the 2012 movie “Looper.”

Houchin is a guitarist and composer fluent in many musical styles including jazz, pop, folk, Spanish, South American and improvisation.  He has performed throughout the Bay Area, Los Angeles and Europe; and holds a degree in guitar performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Grammy Award-winning guitarist Sergio Assad.
