Oil painter Ed Botkin will hold his ninth annual art exhibit and sale Friday through Sunday, Aug. 16 through 18, at the Ocean View Grange, 435 Port Clyde Road/Route 131, between Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The public is invited to an opening reception Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.

This year, more than 30 new works of realistic oil paintings along the Maine coast will be introduced. In the past year, Botkin made two extended trips to Vinalhaven Island looking for subjects to paint, finding them in abundance there. Many of the new works in this year’s exhibit are based on subjects located on the island.

This year, Botkin’s wife Kay will be showing a line of “Glass and Granite” garden sculptures. She was struck with the beauty of the granite found in a quarry on Vinalhaven and envisioned it combined with glass, a material she is very familiar with through her many years as a stained glass artist. Botkin also is showing at the Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset and has been selected as a featured artist in the new Jackson Memorial Library in Tenants Harbor.
