The 11th annual John Syrett Lobster Bake will be held Saturday, Aug. 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. on the waterfront in Owls Head.
The bake is the major fundraiser for the Knox County Democratic Committee. Four levels of sponsorship with program recognition will provide funds needed for 2014 election activities. Businesses as well as individuals may become sponsors. Individual tickets are $30.
This is an informal rain-or-shine event for Democrats from far and near, their friends, supporters and summer guests. Contributions in any amount toward the success of the event are also very welcome.
This year guests include Congressman Mike Michaud, who will speak briefly before the meal, and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steve Woods, who will speak briefly following the meal.
The menu features lobster with mussels, corn, coleslaw, potato salad, soft drinks, fruit, coffee and homemade bars and cookies. An alternate menu from the grill, including veggie burgers, will be available for those who prefer it as well as beer and wine for a donation. This is a green event with local foods and minimal waste to send to the landfill.
Contact Bonnie Post at 594-9263 or at bonniepost@earthlink.net or visit knoxmainedemocrats.org for more information and to sponsor, donate or purchase tickets. Arrangements must be made by Thursday, Aug. 15 to attend this event.
