Port Clyde Art Gallery will exhibit “Poppies & Pussies,” Elizabeth O’Haverty’s new works on paper in various media, Thursday, Aug. 8, through Sept. 14. The public is invited to an opening reception Friday, Aug. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the gallery in the barn at the Seaside Inn, across from the General Store.

Inspired by the lushness of poppies and the indolence of cats, “Poppies and Pussies” celebrates both. All the cats portrayed in these works are rescue cats now living in great comfort in Palmyra. Ten percent of the show’s proceeds go to the Humane Society of Knox County.

The gallery also represents member artists Lowell “Si” Sibole, furniture; Gil Coyle, pen and ink drawings of animals, etchings, monotypes and assemblages; Jan Dearborn, plein air oil landscapes; Erik Amundsen, hand-thrown stoneware pottery; Gena Neilson, multimedia; Gillian N. Sloat, oils; Rick Bernard, sculpture; Amy Cornell, landscapes in oil; C. Yager, still life, landscape, watercolor and collage; Marianne Swittlinger, paintings, mixed media and jewelry; and Gayle Bedigian, pottery.

Port Clyde Art Gallery is open Thursdays through Mondays from noon to 6 p.m.
