“John Lorence: Bronze Sculpture 1962-2002” will open Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Tidemark Gallery, 902 Main St. The public is invited to a reception Saturday, Aug. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m., a joint event with the new Philippe Guillerm Gallery opening nearby at 882 Main St.

The Tidemark exhibition of work by one of Maine’s most distinguished artists is curated by Carol Wiley. Lorence’s professional interests include painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, art history, conservation and archeology. His educational credentials are numerous and eclectic, from Oxford University to Maine’s Haystack School of Art. Lorence’s lifetime experience as an artist, teacher, researcher and gallerist has taken him around the globe.
