Energetic four-part unaccompanied community singing, dating from Colonial New England, also known as Sacred Harp singing, will take place Monday, Aug. 12, from 7 to 9 p.m. at First Church, between Court and Church streets (entrance on Spring Street).
The singing is open to all, at no cost, and newcomers are most welcome. Books are available for loan and purchase. Also shared will be news on last month’s Maine All-Day and D.H. Mansfield singings and, the first time in Maine, November’s New England Convention.
Those who wish to gather for supper before the monthly singing are invited to meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Belfast Co-op, 123 High St. For more information, call 338-1265 or 594-5743.
