Suomalaiset Jouset, the local kantele ensemble from the Finnish Heritage House, will share music and a story as part of the summer reading program Thursday, Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. at Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St.

The kantele is a Finnish lap harp that originated more than 2,500 years ago. The 11-person ensemble will accompany a reading of the Barbara Cooney story “Louhi, the Witch of North Farm.” After the story, participants will have a chance to join a sing-along and perhaps try an instrument.

This program is for children, teens, ‘tweens and their families. For more information, call 594-0310.
