Six Rockland Yacht Club women took off for a day of sailing on the sailing vessel Intuito on July 27.
Melisa Evers, Molly Mulhern, Moira Bentzel, Marcia Lapson, Doris Smart, and Helen Kuhl participated in the event.
After coffee, muffins, quiche, and a discussion and instructions about sailing the group took off from homeport. Fair northerly winds at about 5 knots greeted the women as they raised the main sail in the harbor and headed out toward Mark Island.
After coming about, close to Robinson Rocks, they enjoyed a south westerly wind as they sailed back into Rockland Harbor, tacking once as they headed past the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse.
