The Friendship Museum is sponsoring a 15 garden self-guided tour of local gardens along Main Street (Harbor Road) in Friendship on Saturday, Aug. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

These gardens range in theme from vegetable, raised bed, container, and all herb. Many of these gardens have been cultivated through the generations and maintained by heirs. Come enjoy a day of peaceful seaside gardens free of charge.

Stroll or drive to each garden, ask questions, and get tips. Members will share the benefits of raised bed and container gardening, some gardeners who have managed to keep heritage gardens alive for several generations, and a member who will explain the Master Gardener Program. This garden tour was created to help participants learn about and celebrate the historic as well as contemporary gardens, orchards, civic sites, and landscape plantings in the center of town.

Post tour activities from 2 to 4 p.m. will include the raffling of a garden tote and garden hod, both fully filled with contents valued at more than $200, and original art work by local Friendship artist Kat Logan, valued at $300. There will be a Garden Bazaar Sale of gently used garden items, a plant table, and a refreshment table.

Meet at 10 a.m. in front of the Friendship Museum Annex in the center of town (across from the Hahn Community Center) to pick up a directional brochure that includes a map and description of the gardens.
