Art Space Gallery, 342 Main St., will welcome August with a First Friday opening reception Aug. 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. The month's featured artists are Allen David Bunker, Charles Laurier Dufour, Judith Herman and Pamela Hetherly.

Bunker paints what he calls Landscape Allusions; his goal is to bring the viewer “back to nature" and all its feeling. Dufour is an award-winning Maine photographer who brings together the beauty of the human figure with the surrounding environment. Herman's watercolor paintings offer a close look at nature, each a tribute to the small things that surround and fulfill her life. Hetherly makes dynamic, colorful paintings in oil using a painting knife. Her subjects include landscapes, still life and figures.

Art Space Gallery is a co-operative gallery of 19 artists with work on display throughout the gallery. Summer hours are Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (to 8 p.m. Fridays) and Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m. For more information, visit
