Camden-based The Rig will bring Darling’s Ice Cream for a Cause truck to its First Friday Art Walk fundraising event Aug. 2. The truck will be parked from 5 to 8 p.m. in front of 407 Main St. There also be live music performed by a Camden Hills Regional High School student; and cold water for sale.

The Rig is a community-oriented, safe meeting place for young adults in ninth through 12th grades. Its provides an abundance of opportunities for youth to develop and pursue their ideas, to realize their potential and to build friendships while learning leadership and team building skills.

The Rig is completely funded by community donations, so fundraisers like these are extremely important to ensure it can continue serving the needs of local youth.

Darling’s Ice Cream for a Cause was designed as a fun way to give back to local communities and causes. The truck attends local events to give out ice cream for free, in exchange for voluntary donations to benefit the cause or charity. In 2012, the truck raised more than $20,000 for more than 100 local causes. The truck is available for any event or cause, from large organizations to a friend or neighbor in need.
