Artist and author Kathleen Fox is one of 14 invited artists whose art will be shown in the “Tell Me A Story About Maine” art exhibition at the Atrium Gallery at University of Southern Maine's Lewiston-Auburn College, 51 Westminster St. For hours, call 753-6554.

The show opens Friday, July 26, with a 5:30 to 7 p.m. reception and runs through Nov. 23. The free opening reception is concurrent with the reception of the American Creativity Association’s conference at the university.

Artists are exhibiting their illustrations for children’s books set in Maine. The book that Fox illustrated is one she also wrote, “Beowulf of Maine,” published by Maine Authors Publishing in Rockland. The book is based on the old English epic poem about King Beowulf, who defeated the monster Grendel and many dragons in 15th-century Scandinavia. The hero, Beowulf, is Fox’s Newfoundland dog who lives with her in St. George.

Fox also will have her book for sale at her show Friday through Sunday, Aug. 23 through 25, at the Ocean View Grange in Martinsville. It is available at Midcoast book stores and at amazon.com. Fox can be reached at her gallery on Turkey Cove at 372-8863. Her website is mainewatercolors.biz.
