The Steel Brethren Motorcycle Club, based in Warren, recently presented a check for $900 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine.

The money came from their Ride For Kids’ Sake that took place June 23 and from the benefit auction that was held at the group’s clubhouse immediately following the ride. Organizer Jim Batty said this is the second year the club has selected BBBS to be the beneficiary of the event.

Dozens of motorcycles participated in the event and enjoyed a tasty barbecue afterward. There, they also bid on prizes donated by local businesses, with proceeds from the auction going to BBBSMM.

Alex Gaeth, CEO for BBBS of Mid-Maine says the funds will be used to purchase arts and crafts materials, supplies, and healthy snacks for the agency’s school-based mentoring program at local Midcoast schools.
