Washington Library Association is getting ready to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the opening of Gibbs Library on Saturday, Aug. 3.
A reception will be held at 3 p.m. on the library’s lawn and new patio. Musical entertainment will be provided by Midcoast rock and blues band All Stove Up. Beverages and light food will be provided.
An ongoing Silent Auction featuring original works by 10 local artists began July 17. The artists whose work is featured are Hank Aho, Anne Ayvaliotis, Joan Freiman, Phyllis Janto, Suzanne Phillips, Carol Sloane, Ieva Tatarski, Barbara Vanderbilt, Cynthia White and Sheila White. The work will be posted as it comes in at gibbslibrary.org.
Also posted will be items for a live auction that will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The auctions serve as major fundraising to help meet this year’s budget. All are welcome to bid and to bid again to support the completely volunteer-run library.
During breaks in the auction and after its conclusion, Elijah Ocean will provide original songs and music.
Through the efforts of many people, the volunteer-run community library has steadily grown and been able to expand its programs.
Join the celebration while helping raise funds for the WLA.
