The 30th annual Friendship Day will be held Saturday, July 27, rain or shine. The event benefits the ambulance service for Friendship residents.

The schedule of events is as follows:

Saturday, July 27

6:30 a.m. — 20th annual Road Races registration, Advent Christian Church parking lot. Awards presentation at Friendship Village School parking lot after Long Haul for first, second and third place. FMI: John Homon at 354-0409. Sponsored by Jaret & Cohn.

7 a.m. — Short Haul. One-mile family fun run and walk for kids up to eighth grade and their parents. Entry fee: $2 donation.

7:10 a.m. — 11th annual Friendship Pancake Breakfast, Advent Christian Church. Pancakes, plain and Beth Farm fresh blueberry, maple syrup, sausages, juice and coffee.

7:30 a.m. — Long Haul. 5K foot race/walk. Open to all ages (three classes). Entry fee donation: $10 without T-shirt, $20 with T-shirt.

8 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Friendship Museum merchandise sale and raffle table at the Annex building on Main Street. Raffle tickets for a canvas green tote filled with gardening supplies.

8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Craft sale. Fire station and in front of Hahn Center. Rug hooking demonstrations by Mary Carver and her daughter Kathy throughout the day.

8:30 a.m. — Food/Bake Sale. Under the Big Tent. All food donations welcome by 8 a.m. Homemade pies, fudge and desserts. Coffee and doughnuts for your morning starter. FMI: 354-0409.

9 to 11 a.m. — Touch Tank. The Lobster Conservancy touch tank near the corner of Main Street and Route 220. Come see and experience sea life at your own fingertips. Diane Cowan will be able to answer questions about lobster and their life cycles.

9:15 to 10:45 a.m. — Dory photos. Friendship Museum provides a complimentary photo taken in a dory at the Annex building on Main Street.

10 a.m. — Wings over the Medomak, an aerial view of the Medomak River Watershed in the Friendship Town Office. A second showing at 1 p.m. Co-sponsored by the Friendship Museum.

10 a.m. — Town parade. In the gardens of Friendship is the theme this year. Margaret Gagnon is grand marshal.

10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Children's games/activities beside the Hahn Community Center. Jump tent, bubble pool fun, sidewalk chalk, face painting, stickers, lots of games and prizes for the little ones.

11 a.m. to noon — Sail Power & Steam Museum Capt. Jim Sharp will give a presentation on the construction of the Friendship sloop Persistence in the town office. Bring your own lunch and enjoy the story behind the vessel. FMI: Ed Kahora at 832-5888.

11 a.m. — Lunch and snacks available from Big Bob's Big Dawgs, Wallace's Market, Mike Mayo. The Friendship Scoop will open at 3 p.m. and Flipper's opens at 8 a.m. Friendship Fire Department will serve lobster rolls, hamburgers and hotdogs.

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — See Steve Burns' train display at Friendship Methodist Church.

11 a.m. — Midcoast Community Bang will play outside Hahn Community Center.

Noon — Historic Seeds of Friendship demonstration given by Neil Lash in Power Point. Annex building.

1 to 3 p.m. — St. George Carriage Co. Enjoy a complimentary carriage ride around the town. Sponsored by Lash Realty.

1 p.m. — Auction. Hahn Community Center. Auctioneer Bill Michaud will auction paintings, woodcrafts, pottery, gift certificates, furniture, antiques. FMI: Joel Fearn, 832-7644 or 354-7036.

1 p.m. — Kids seed planting. Heritage seeds donated by Neil Lash. With Wanda Benner in the kids area.

1 to 4 p.m. — The Friendship Museum, corner of Martin's Point Road and Route 220. Open House merchandise mugs, CDs from FVS sixth-grade Finding Friendship Oral History Project.

1:30 p.m. — Whiffle ball for 4- to 10-year-olds. FMI: Keith Simmons or meet at town ball field.

5 p.m. — Chicken BBQ Dinner. Benefits the Friendship is Here Scholarship Fund, which are awarded to graduating seniors.

9 p.m. — Fireworks. Watch fireworks over Friendship Harbor. Rain or fog date, July 28.

Sunday, July 28

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — 3rd annual Art in the Big Tent. Come enjoy the work of more than 25 artists under the big tent, showcasing Midcoast artists. Paintings will be on display and for sale. FMI: Pam Cabanas, 832-6633.

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Food and snacks available from the Friendship Fire Department.
