We love all our dogs and cats to pieces, and our dearest wish for every one of them is that they find the lifelong loving home they all deserve. Because our kittens are so irresistible — and much of this is due to the superb care they get in their early days from our wonderful foster families — some of our older, quieter cats don’t get the attention they should. So through the end of July, the adoption fee for all adult cats is just $20.

And while they come in all sizes and shapes and colors, what they, and we, have in common is the desire for a home and people of their own. We have many to choose from, and our bet is that if you come to meet them you will be chosen by one of them.

If you’re lucky, perhaps our sweet Chuck will want you for an owner. His favorite pastime is chilling out, preferably in the company of two-legged animals. Catch those eyes, just the tiniest bit tip-tilted and saying that Chuck has secrets he would love to share with just the right person.

We know our darling Delilah would love to pick out her new owners, and this beautiful girl wouldn’t mind sharing them with other cats. Delilah is one of those cats who is about a hundred times more gorgeous than any camera could capture, and she has the personality to go with her looks. And if she doesn’t pick you, you just might persuade her into letting you pick her.

Don’t forget that the dogs here would love to be able to pick out their owners too. Our handsome Fred is looking for a family that will play with him and take him on walks and especially car rides. Still young at 3-1/2 years old, he’s anxious to add some new tricks to his current repertoire of sit and give paw, and we’re pretty sure he’d love to learn to roll over. And since he adores treats, he will make an apt and responsive pupil.

Is this hot weather taking a toll on you? Then just imagine what it must be like for your four-legged friends in their permanent fur coats. So please leave your dogs at home when you’re running errands. We’re sure they won’t mind missing out on one or two car rides. And don’t leave dogs or cats outside for a very long time either. If they are out, make sure they have shade and plenty of fresh water and limit the amount of time they are out. Don’t forget to take shorter walks, and make sure the pavement isn’t too hot for their feet.

As always, we are in need of paper towels, canned and dry cat food, dog treats, towels, washcloths and hand towels. When you’re making a donation of dog beds or bedding, remember that everything needs to be able to fit in our washing machine.

Please take the time to drop by and see us and meet all our glorious girls and boys at 146 Camden St. in Rockport. We’re open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, our phone number is 236-8702 and pawsadoption.org is never closed! And thank you, as always, for your caring and support.
