St. George Days is a collection of community fundraising events for various organizations all wrapped up in a weekend of spirited events such as the Eastern Star Potluck Dinner and Raffle on Thursday, July 18th from 5 to 7 p.m.

The Family Street Dance and Antique Car Rally featuring DJ Dan Miller, The Dancing Lobsterman and his collection of 50 years of hits takes place Friday, July 19. The dance is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at St. George Elementary School in the parking lot. Swing & Sway Dance Professionals will provide a dancing demonstration at this event.

Saturday, July 20, there will be a pancake breakfast to benefit St. George Days 2014 from 7 to 9:30 a.m. at the town office. Half-mile fun run begins at 8:25 with a 5K Lighthouse Loop at 8:30. Both races begin at Drift Inn Beach. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can attend the “Meet Your Local Fisherman” event at the Cod End Wharf. Learn more about the fishing industry at this event sponsored by the Maine Fishing Heritage Alliance.

Visit the St. George Sailing Foundation booth on Saturday to learn more about the Youth Sailing Program. There are still spaces available for summer Sailing Lessons. The annual Jackson Memorial Library Book Fair will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the NEW library at 71 Main St.

At 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, the Main Street parade will feature the first ever float contest! Cash prize of $100 for first place and $50 for second place finishers. Entrants may pick up a number in the parade line before the parade. Parade line-up is on Wallston Road, near the Baptist church. Enjoy the Maine Saint Andrews Pipes and Drums Band during the parade and for a short concert after the parade. The Annual St. George Fireman’s Association Lobster Dinner Fundraiser will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. under the tent at the town office parking lot. Lobster, burgers, homemade desserts and more… Just after the parade, there will be children’s activities on the town office lawn, sponsored by the Harmony Baptist Church. The St. George Historical Society Schoolhouse Museum will open at that time as well.

On Sunday, July 21, there will be a special concert at the Odd Fellows Hall in Tenants Harbor by Satumma, a Finnish Folk Band. The fee for the two-hour concert is $12, which includes refreshments at intermission. There will be Finnish Pulla (Nisu-Finnish Coffee Bread) and more…

Due to predicted severe weather, the fireworks display over Tenants Harbor will be postponed until Sunday evening.
