Camden Public Library’s Monday Night Movies in the Park series will screen one of the library’s favorite movies, “Holes,” Monday, July 29, at 8:15 p.m. in the Camden Amphitheatre on Atlantic Avenue. The movie is presented free with support from The First; bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating.

Camp Green Lake, where there has been no rain for a hundred years, is a summer camp with an unusual method of discipline: it makes campers dig large holes under the guise of building character, while the real reason is a plan to find a buried treasure. Based on Louis Sachar’s award-winning novel, “Holes” is a surprisingly sophisticated, charming, challenging and satisfying movie.

Stars include Shia LaBeouf, Sigourney Weaver, Jon Voight, Patricia Arquette and Tim Blake Nelson. The 2003 movie is rated PG and runs 117 minutes. The screening will be postponed if it is raining.
