Larry Gowell, a popular baritone recently featured on WCSH-TV, will perform Tuesday, July 23, at 6:30 p.m. at the patio/park of Gibbs Library, 40 Old Union Road. The free community concert is sponsored by the Washington Historical Society.

Gowell grew up in Auburn, where he was interested in sports and music; after a career in professional baseball, he went into the insurance business. Upon retirement, he decided to act on his love of music by taking singing lessons and performing locally. Gowell has produced his own CD, “Music for the Soul,” continues to sing in his church choir and pursue professional singing opportunities. His concerts feature popular standards, show tunes, classic jazz and an occasional faith number.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. If there is rain, the concert will be at the Grange Hall. A hat will be passed hat for the musician.
