The United Christian Church invites the public to an Old-Fashioned Hymn Sing Sunday, July 21, at 4 p.m. Song sheets will be provided and organist Ann McCullough will accompany the singing.

The list of hymns includes “Joyful, Joyful,” “Some Glad Morning,” “Throw Out the Lifeline” and “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah.”  McCullough also will play several organ arrangements of early 18th-century American hymns. Organizers are hoping visitors and local choir members will join in; all are welcome.

This is the third in a series titled Music and Reflections for the Season being offered on the third Sunday of each month through the summer and into the fall. On Aug. 18, McCullough will perform an organ recital with a special performance by guest organist Ray Cornils. A Taizé service will be held on Sept. 15. All concerts are held at 4 p.m. and are free of charge, but donations are gladly received and benefit the music fund.

The church, built in 1821, is fully handicapped accessible and located at 18 Searsmont Road/Route 173 in Lincolnville Center. For more information call Mary Schulien, music director, at 785-3521.
