Thomaston Public Library will host the Saltwater Film Society's screening of “Project A, Part II” Thursday, July 25, at 6:30 p.m. in Room 200 of the library, in the historic Thomaston Academy building, 60 Main St./Route 1.

The sequel to Jackie Chan's massive 1983 hit “Project A,” 1987’s Hong Kong period piece “Project A, Part II” once again follows Sergeant Dragon Ma (Chan) as he evades a band of murderous pirates intent on revenging their late captain. Dragon is transferred to Sai Wan, where he first inspires an indolent police force and then heads security for the Governor's Daughter's Ball where pirates, corrupt officials, and Dragon's own group collide.

With references to the Marx Brothers and Buster Keaton, “Project A, Part II” is a blend of historical kung-fu theatrics and slap-stick comedy; and features a cast of Hong Kong regular, including Chan, Maggie Cheung and Kwai Hoi-san.

The screening is free. For more information about the Saltwater Film Society, visit saltwaterfilmsociety.org.
