Friends of the Thomaston Public Library presents its Friday Night Film Series with screenings weekly at 7 p.m. in the community room of Thomaston Public Library in the Thomaston Academy Building, 60 Main St./Route 1. July features Woody Allen films.

The series continues July 12 with "Bullets Over Broadway," a 1994 movie that runs 98 minutes. A hack 1920s playwright uses a mobster to finance his newest play … but when the gangster's bodyguard starts rewriting the play to make it more believable, he shows more talent than the play's original author. Starring John Cusack, Jack Warden, Chazz Palminteri, Diane Wiest, Jennifer Tilly and Jim Broadbent, "Bullets" was nominated for seven Academy Awards.

Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. Light refreshments will be served. The Thomaston Academy building is handicapped accessible from the rear entrance. For more information, call the library at 354-2453.
