Critically acclaimed author Roxana Robinson launched Jackson Memorial Library’s summer Literary Series at the in 2008 and will return Tuesday, July 16, at 5:30 p.m. to the Ocean View Grange to present her latest novel. “Sparta” was published by Farrar, Strauss and Giroux last month and has received rave reviews.

Robinson has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts and the MacDowell Colony. She is the author of five novels and three collections of short stories. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Harper’s, One Story, Best American Short Stories and elsewhere; has been widely anthologized; and broadcast on National Public Radio. Four of her works have been chosen Notable Books of the Year by The New York Times, and she was named a Literary Lion by the New York Public Library.

The literary event at the grange, 435 Port Clyde Road/Route 131, is the first of three this month sponsored by the Jackson Memorial Library. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served, and signed books will be available for sale. Admission is free and open to the public.
