On Thursday, July 11, Camden artist Meghan Brady will return to Perimeter Gallery with “Suitcase in My Hand,” an exhibition of new abstract oil paintings. A reception to meet the artist will be held that evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

“Suitcase in My Hand” means a point of departure, a possibility, a step forward with all the necessities, histories and skills in tow, said Brady. It is an exciting place, of expectation and preparedness, yet openness to the unpredictability of travel. In her new work, this has translated to a series of paintings that are lively, restless, discordantly hued and at the same time seek a place that is balanced and unquestionable.

Brady exhibits her work nationally. In Maine, in addition to Perimeter Gallery, she has exhibited at ICON Contemporary in Brunswick, SPACE Gallery in Portland and has been included in exhibitions at the Portland Museum of Art and the Center for Maine Contemporary Art. In 2011, she was one of four artists who collaborated on a Percent-for-Art Commission at the Gorham Elementary School.

“Suitcase in My Hand” will run through Aug. 25. Perimeter Gallery is located at Chase’s Daily, 96 Main St., open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 338-0555.
