The Apprenticeshop opens its doors and shores and invites the public for an evening of free sailing and rowing on Rockland Harbor Thursday, July 11, at 6 p.m.

Visitors will have the opportunity to try a variety of boats, including Ruth, an Apprenticeshop-built 26-foot Crotch Island Pinky Ketch, a 26-foot Colgate keelboat, a 17-foot Cape Cod Knockabout, and a 23-foot Sonar sloop rig.

Rockland Community Sailing’s fleet of Optimist prams and Collegiate 420 sailing dinghies will be available for youth to try. Between boat rides, a campfire on the beach and toasting marshmallows for s’mores round out the family program. No prior experience is required, life jackets will be available and visitors will be matched with experienced yachtsmen. Those interested should come dressed for weather.

The event is part of the monthly series, Second Thursdays at The Apprenticeshop. For more information call 207-594-1800 or visit apprenticeshop.org.
