On Friday, July 5, Harbor Square Gallery will open “Improvisations,” a month-long exhibit of paintings by William Crosby. The artist will be on hand for a 5 to 8 p.m. opening reception and the downtown gallery, 374 Main St.

Crosby holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree in painting and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Design from the University of Michigan. His abstract impressions of coastal and mountain landscape are a strong presence in the gallery’s collection and have been for many years. Although he paints in acrylics, his technique imparts a very fluid and transparent quality to his work, almost like watercolor.

His abstract impressions of mountains and coast will be on view throughout July. For more information, call 594-8700 or (800) 594-8700; or visit HarborSquareGallery.com.
