Asymmetrick Arts, 405 Main St., will host an opening reception for Belfast painter Eric Leppanen's first solo exhibition, “Afterlife,” Friday, June 5, during the 5 to 8 p.m. First Friday Art Walk. Immediately following the opening, an afterparty will be held at Cafe Miranda, 15 Oak St. All are welcome to attend.

Leppanen's work uses found and reclaimed paint to create pattern-based works that explore unexpected color relationships and surface textures. Leppanen also works sculpturally, adapting his process of using found objects to create functional installations and projects. His most recent sculptures were created while participating in the “Resisting Entropy” project this spring at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art in Rockport.

The live show and art opening afterparty at Café Miranda’s Flamingo Bar will feature Eenor’s new rocktronic act Mus Mezmer, a multi-styled sonic blend of electronic and live performance arts.

“Afterlife” will continue at Asymmetrick Arts through July 26. For more information, call 594-2020 or email info@asymmetrickarts.com.
