The Thomaston 4th of July Committee is proud to announce Mr. and Ms. 4th of July 2013.

Luke Rector and Emilee Cross are both graduated seniors from Oceanside High School, and were chosen by the faculty based on their grades, activities, leadership, community involvement, and positive outlook.

Cross is the daughter of John Cross and Dominique and Daniel Bayerdoffer. Throughout high school, Cross was involved in various musical productions, Trekkers, District III and Allstate chorus. She starred as Cinderella in this year’s production of "Cinderella."

Cross will be working this summer at Dorman’s Dairy Dream, where she has worked since she was 14. Before going onto the University of Maine in the fall of 2014, Cross plans to spend time volunteering at an orphanage in a foreign country.

Rector is the son of Christopher and Elisabeth Rector of Thomaston. Rector played a vital role in many organizations, during his high school career, including class treasurer for three years, Trekkers, National Honor Society, serving as president his senior year, soccer, basketball, golf and four years of tennis, being selected team captain his senior year. Rector has also worked since he was very young, and will be at Camden Cone again this summer. This fall, Rector plans to focus on economics at Colby College.

Cross and Rector will be riding in the 2013 Thomaston 4th of July parade which starts at 11a.m. on Thursday, July 4. The parade will once again travel from north to south on Main Street in Thomaston, beginning at Erin Street and ending at the high school. The parade will be followed by a full day of activities in Thomaston and the traditional fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. Rain/fog date for the fireworks is July 5.
