Cushing Historical Society’s Arts in the Barn summer exhibition series continues with “The Skullys: A Postmortem Dilemma,” a collection of oil paintings by emerging artist Eric Darling. The show will open with a reception Friday, July 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. and continue Saturday and Sunday, July 6 and 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the CHS Barn, 17 Hathorn Point Road.

“The Skullys: A Postmortem Dilemma” features Skullys, a series of protohuman and animal characters. Darling is a self-taught artist native to New England who went west to earn a BA in Anthropology at San Diego State University.  Interests such as archeology work, travel and teaching in Asia, as well as an overall appreciation for the natural world, are all evident in Darling’s work. He now lives with his family in the quiet coastal town of Cushing.

Refreshments will be provided at the reception, free and open to the public. To contact the artist, email ericdarlingart@gmail.com. For more information, contact Judith Zizza at 354-6939.
