Archipelago Fine Art gallery, 386 Main St., will hold a public reception Friday, June 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. to launch the 2013 edition of Island Journal, the Island Institute's annual publication celebrating island life. One of the folios in this year's Island Journal features the work of photographer Michael Seif, whose show of underwater nude figures, "The Merry Naiads," is on exhibit through July 26. Seif will give an artist’s talk at 5 p.m. for Island Institute members.

This special issue of Island Journal, marking the Island Institute's 30th anniversary, also features a folio of photographs by co-founder Peter Ralston, whose show at Archipelago will begin Friday, Aug. 2. It also includes essays, poetry and articles about Maine's island and remote coastal communities.
