Port Clyde Art Gallery will be featuring oils by guest artist Alicia Hammatt of Tenants Harbor Thursday, June 27, through Monday, July 15. The public is invited to attend a reception Friday, June 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. The gallery is located in the barn at the Seaside Inn, across from the village’s general store

Hammatt’s zest for life and exuberance are evident in her still life, figurative and landscape work in oils. Her command of light and color harmony takes place using a very limited palette and thick, juicy strokes.

An impressionist painter, Hammatt takes art very seriously while simultaneously enjoying the journey. Her work reveals a love of color and shape, as well as inspiration from the landscape. Of late, she has found a new interest in painting the human figure.

Port Clyde Art Gallery also represents member artists Lowell “Si” Sibole, Gil Coyle, Jan Dearborn, Erik Amundsen, Gena Neilson, Gillian N. Sloat, Rick Bernard, Amy Cornell, C. Yager, Marianne Swittlinger and Gayle Bedigian. Hours are Thursdays through Mondays from noon to 6 p.m.
