Summer reading kickoff

WALDOBORO — Waldoboro Public Library’s Summer Reading Program kicks off Thursday, June 20, at 10:30 a.m. with Magician Conjuring Carroll “I Dig Books Magic Show.”

The Summer Reading Program is free and open to elementary-aged children. Registration forms are available at the library. This year’s nationwide theme is Dig Into Reading! The program will be held Thursday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Buffet breakfasts in South Thomaston

SOUTH THOMASTON — Peoples United Methodist Church in South Thomaston will be hosting public buffet breakfasts on Friday mornings throughout the summer.

This is the 16th year they have been providing this service to raise money for the children and youngsters to attend church-sponsored summer camps.

The menu is pancakes, scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage, muffins, fruit salad and drinks. Breakfast runs from 7 to 9 a.m., and the cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 5 to 12 years old (under 5 are free), and $20 for an immediate family rate.

The first breakfast will be on Friday, June 21 and run through Aug. 23.


Ocean View Grange Bean Supper

ST. GEORGE — The Ocean View Grange in Martinsville is hosting its first public supper of the season on Saturday, June 29, starting at 5 p.m. This is an old-fashioned Maine style bean supper featuring traditional beans and franks with homemade brown bread, ham, mac and cheese, coleslaw, biscuits, beverages and dessert. The suggested donation is $8 for adults and $6 for children.

The Grange is located on Route 131 about 12 miles south of Route 1. Come meet up with friends and neighbors.


Rockland Yacht Club needs additional launch drivers

ROCKLAND — Due to the very strong community response to their new launch service, the Rockland Yacht Club is looking for additional launch drivers for this season.

According to Keith Davie, RYC's director of launch operations, "Applicants for the RYC launch program should have a Coast Guard Limited Master license, but OUPV (six-pack) licensees will also be considered."
