A beautiful weekend set the perfect backdrop for the Owls Head Transportation Museum’s Hot Rod, Custom and Muscle Car Meet June 15 and 16. The show drew exhibitors from throughout the state, who enthusiastically displayed their vehicles.

Billed as one of the museum’s “most colorful” vehicle shows of the annual event season, the 2013 Hot Rod, Custom and Muscle Car Meet was no disappointment. Approximately 150 specialty vehicles graced the Museum campus during the course of the weekend. The high-quality vehicles on display represented a diverse range of custom street rods, rat rods and hot rods, modified trucks and other stunning examples of classic American muscle.

As always, exhibitor gates were open to any vehicle older than 1993, and the museum was pleased to welcome beautiful vehicles representing both domestic and foreign marques to the show.

The Owls Head Transportation Museum welcomed representatives from the Wicked Good Vintage Racing Association Sunday, who brought an array of vintage stock cars, T-shirts and information. As always, the presence of the Wicked Good Vintage Racing Association delighted adults and children alike. Members of the National Street Rod Association were present both Saturday and Sunday conducting free safety inspections for any exhibitor who wished to have their vehicle inspected. More than 50 vehicles passed through the NSRA inspection bay in just two days!

To the delight of the assembled crowd, Owls Head Transportation Museum staff demonstrated many of the collection’s vehicles, including a 1911 Cadillac, 1926 Pierce-Arrow, 1932 Harley Davidson Model V motorcycle and 1932 Cragar Racer. Sunday provided clear skies, allowing the museum’s aviation team to demonstrate many aircraft, including our 1941 Stearman biplane, 1933 Waco biplane, the last operating 1923 Fokker C.IVA in existence, 1930 Pitcairn Sport Mailwing, 1917 Nieuport 28C.1, 1912 Curtiss Model D and many more. It was widely commented that nowhere else in the world could such an array of planes be viewed in flight.

The Owls Head Transportation Museum is pleased to welcome many new members who signed up during the course of the weekend. The Museum staff looks forward to seeing both new and returning faces at upcoming events and appreciates the continuing support of the Owls Head Transportation Museum members and visitors.
