The annual Summer Solstice Celebration on Main Street turns 15 this year and will take place Saturday, June 22, at a new time — 4 to 8 p.m.

The Summer Solstice Celebration is hosted by Rockland Main Street, Inc. Main Street will be closed between Park and Summer streets for this fun, family event. Downtown restaurants and food specialty shops, along with retail shops, will be participating with food, Solstice Sidewalk Sales, entertainment and activities including the popular Whoopie Pie Eating Contest.

There will be more food vendors this year, to accommodate the 5,000 celebrants expected to stroll downtown, and there also will be more artist and craft tents, as well as a return of the nonprofit area to Winter Street. Those interested in being a food vendor, artist, crafter or nonprofit participant should email rocklanddowntown@gmail.com for an application and more information.

North Atlantic Blues Festival co-producer Paul Benjamin is bringing back favorite Summer Solstice Celebration bands plus some new faces to perform along Main Street, and there also will be dance performances.
