On Monday, June 10 Bar Harbor Bank & Trust will begin preparing the lot next to their branch at 245 Camden St. in Rockland, to accommodate a temporary building to house branch operations while the branch is being renovated.

There will be no Saturday banking June 22 at this location, while operations are moved into the temporary facility next door. Renovations to the existing branch will begin on Monday, June 24 and are expected to be completed in mid-October.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust’s temporary branch in Rockland will be open for business beginning June 24, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays and 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. The drive-up ATM will be open as usual, in its present location. The night depository is located on the back of the temporary facility, accessible via a lighted walking path. There will be no drive up service available at the temporary location. Safe deposit boxes can be accessed Monday-Friday, subject to the construction schedule.

The renovations of Bar Harbor Bank & Trust’s branch in Rockland will include an extensive facelift, both inside and out. The floor plan is being changed, decreasing the size of the customer service counter and completely re-working the safe deposit box area. The result will be improved safety, security and privacy. In addition, all central systems will be upgraded, including HVAC, electrical, security and lighting. All of the doors and windows will be replaced and the parking lot re-paved. E.L. Shea, Inc., of Ellsworth, has been hired as the general contractor, using local subcontractors whenever possible. Completion of the project is expected for mid-October.
