“Space & Mind II,” an exhibit of the captivating abstract drawings of Camden artist Richard Chalmers, will open Friday, June 7, at the downtown Rougette Gallery, upstairs at 340 Main St. There will be an artist’s reception during the 5 to 8 p.m. First Friday Art Walk.

The series is made up of dozens of 6-by-6 inch drawings and paintings. Each exists on its own, but also forms a cohesive element of the whole series. Each work was created as a product of a deep meditative state, which allowed the artist an experience of unlimited experimentation and discovery.

Chalmers is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design; has taught art and drawing; and has been a professional designer at Weatherend in Rockland for the past 14 years.

The show will run through the end of June. Rougette is open Fridays from noon to 5 p.m.; inquire about other open hours at 596-7979 or RougetteGallery.com.
