The Royal Hammer, which was showed out during the winter, will head back to Billy's Tavern Friday, June 7, at 8:30 p.m. The seven-piece roots reggae group based in Portland features four musicians from Rustic Overtones.

Heavily influenced by Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown and Roots Radics, Royal Hammer takes pride in the authenticity of their sound. Michael Taylor (The Awesome, Rustic Overtones) is backed up by a heavy rhythm section including Gary Gemetti (Rustic Overtones) on drums, Tyler Quist (Jaw Gems) on keys and bass player Stu Mahan (Nat Osbourne Band, London Souls); and with Ryan Zoidis (Rustic Overtones, Soulive) and Lucas Desmond (Model Airplane) on saxes and Dave Noyes (Rustic Overtones, The Plains) on trombone.

Cover charge is $7. For more information, follow Billy's Tavern on Facebook or call 354-1177. Billy's is located at 1 Starr St., behind the business block.
