A ribbon cutting was held May 28 at The Chowder House, a new restaurant adjacent to Trade Winds Motor Inn.

The event was organized in conjunction with Main Street Rockland, Inc. and the Penobscot Bay Chamber of Commerce.

Attendees enjoyed The Chowder House samples of lobster stew, clam chowder, bacon wrapped scallops, pulled pork and bread pudding.

People were thrilled to see the renovations of the restaurant, including a wine cellar and a wine and beer bar overlooking the World’s Biggest Lobster with views of Rockland Harbor and Rockland breakwater.

Mayor Will Clayton spoke at the ribbon cutting, noting it was a nostalgic occasion because he had also attended a ribbon cutting of The Chowder House owners, Kevin and Kathleen LaBree, when they opened Garden Island Laundromat and Tanning in 2011.

The LaBrees have extensive restaurant experience and are thrilled to be bringing their Real Maine…Real Good flair. They look forward to welcoming their many friends, old and new along with all Midcoast visitors to The Chowder House, located at 2 Park Drive.
