Knox County Emergency Management has partnered with the Maine Center on Deafness to present two workshops for first responder agencies and other interested people.

The workshops are aimed to provide primary sign language skills to emergency responders and others who may need to communicate with persons who are hearing impaired or deaf during emergencies.

Interested participants may choose between either the 1 or 6 p.m. workshop on Tuesday, June 11 at the Knox County EMA office, 301 Park St. in Rockland.

Continuing education units for licensed EMS providers have been approved for this program by Maine EMS.

These free workshops are open to any interested resident. Please contact Knox County EMA at 594-5155 to reserve a seat and program materials.
