Our pet pick of the week is Brandy, a beautiful 1-and-a-half-year-old Lab/Rottweiler mix. Brandy is a great all-around dog. She's good with cats, kids and most dogs. She's a happy dog but will be much happier in a home of her own. Now, through the end of the month, Brandy's adoption fee and that of any adult dog is $25 off and any adult cat can be adopted for just $10 during our Tag Sale adoption promotion.

Thank you to everyone who donated their stuff, baked goods and plants and those who braved all the rain to find some treasures at our annual Dog Gone yard sale. We raised an outstanding $3,550. Now that's a lot of kibble! A special thank you to all the volunteers who logged a lot of hours and muscle power to set up and take down this event. Thank you to the members of American Legion Post 37 for their generosity in providing a roof over our heads for our event. It was greatly appreciated and saved the day.

Dine out for a cause on Thursday, June 13 for our Sixth Annual Eat for Pete’s Sake fundraising event. We have a growing list of great restaurants signing up to participate in this delicious fund raiser. Each restaurant will donate a portion of their profits on this special day to help support homeless animals in our community: Athen's Pizzeria, Atlantica, Badger Cafe & Pub, Blue Sky Cantina, Craignair Inn and Restaurant, Fresh, Harbor Gawker, Hatchet Mountain Publick House, Home Kitchen Cafe, In Good Company, Offshore Restaurant, Park Street Grille, Rockland Cafe, and Thomaston Cafe. Eat for Pete's Sake. For more information and updates visit hskcme.org.

A round of applause and thank you to the very talented and generous students of the Midcoast Community Children's Chorus who performed a concert earlier this month to benefit the animals. They sang beautifully. We are honored that they chose the shelter to be the recipients of their generosity, an amazing $420. It ended on an extra high note when a member of the chorus stopped by the shelter after the concert and adopted a kitten!

Wish list. Laundry detergent, bleach, kitten milk replacement, dry dog food, canned cat food, large garbage bags.
