Waldoboro has dedicated its annual Town Report to Martha Boggs, the quintessential Waldoboro native.

Town Manager John Spear and selectman Carl Cunningham were on hand May 24 for the dedication.

At her young age — she did not want it published — Martha still drives her own car and maintains her own tidy home, right down to shoveling snow and growing flowers.

As a dedicated member of the Waldoboro Community Garden Club, Boggs worked on planting the big blue spruce in the center of the village, along with the line of trees along Main Street.

"I always enjoyed life," she told selectman Steve Cartwright, who interviewed her for the report.

Her advice is to "take care of yourself. Your body is your horse that carries you around."

Waldoboro will hold its annual election and town meeting by referendum on Tuesday, June 11.
