Jessica Day and Midcoast Music Together will be visiting Belfast and Rockland libraries this summer to offer family music and movement programs. There also will Midcoast Music Together sessions at Bay Chamber Concerts Music School in Rockport; Waterfall Arts in Belfast; and Sweet Tree Arts in Hope.

Mixed-age sessions

Three Music Together mixed-age family music classes, designed for children newborn to 5-years-old and their parent or caregiver, will be held in Rockport and Belfast starting in July. Up to 12 children and their caregivers participate in a guided group class, which will include singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching and exploring musical instruments. The whole family is welcome to participate at their own comfort level. The five-week summer session will begin July 9 and 11 and run through the first full week of August. Classes with Day will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. and 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. at Bay Chamber Music School; and Tuesdays from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. with teacher BJ Kopishke at Waterfall Arts.

Three-day workshop

Children age 5 through 8 are invited to a three-day workshop titled Music, Movement and Drama at Sweet Tree Arts. Day and Caitlin Schick will explore elements of music, movement, art exploration and drama through instrument play, drumming, singing, music, acting, rhythm games and art Monday through Wednesday, July 1 through 3 from 9 a.m. to noon.
