The St. George Historical Society will screen the 1948 movie “Deep Waters”, adapted from the novel “Spoonhandle” by Ruth Moore, Thursday, May 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the St. George Town Office building on School Street.

The movie, which stars Dana Andrews, Jean Peters, Cesar Romero, Dean Stockwell and Marjorie Moorhead, was filmed mostly on Vinalhaven but includes scenes at the Knox and Waldo County courthouses, as well as at the Ridge Church with St. George residents — some of whom will be present to share their memories of the filming.

The screening will be preceded by a potluck supper at 6:30 p.m. to which everyone is invited; bring eats if possible. There is no charge, but a collection will be taken to pay for the use of the hall. For more information, call James Skoglund at 372-8893.
