The 3rd annual Tip-A-Cop charity event to benefit Special Olympics will be held Wednesday, May 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Applebee's on Route 1.

Law enforcement officers from Rockland, Camden, Thomaston, Rockport, Waldoboro, the Knox County Sheriff's Office, Maine State Police, State Marshal Service and US Coast Guard will assist the wait staff.

There will be envelopes on each table for restaurant patrons to make donations to Special Olympics of Maine.

Last year's Tip-A Cop event raised $600. This year, the management at Applebee's would like to break $1,000.

"Please support this worthy cause and let a police officer serve you," said Troy Peasley, of the Rockland Police Department, in a news release.
