Friends of the Thomaston Public Library presents its Friday Night Film Series with screenings Fridays at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of Thomaston Public Library in the Thomaston Academy Building, 60 Main St./Route 1. The theme for May’s films is More Great Dames.

The May 24 film is "Anastasia," a 105-minute film from 1956. In 1928 Paris, a pair of Russian émigrés coach a troubled girl to impersonate Anastasia, the presumed-dead daughter of Czar Nicholas II, in order to collect a reward. As the hoax unfolds, the conspirators suspect they have actually found the real Anastasia. Ingrid Bergman won an Academy Award in the title role; Yul Brynner co-stars and Helen Hayes portrays the Empress dowager.

Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. Light refreshments will be served. The Thomaston Academy building is handicapped accessible from the rear entrance. For more information, call the library at 354-2453.
